On December 16, 2024, President Joe Biden designated the Frances Perkins Homestead in Newcastle, Maine as America’s 433rd national park site. This historic designation honors Frances Perkins, who served as the first woman Cabinet Secretary and the longest-serving Secretary of Labor under President Franklin D.
